About the Author

Hettie Ballweber is a retired professional archaeologist who has over 30 years of professional experience on over 220 archaeological projects in the northeastern United States. She was the owner of a consulting firm which conducted large-and-small scale cultural resource surveys pursuant to federal, state, and local requirements, specifically prehistoric and historic archaeology, and archaeological assessments. She is the author of The First People of Maryland, a book for young people and students on archaeology and Maryland prehistory and has published in numerous archaeological journals. 74
