1109 Sixth Street

by Janis Wright

This is a story of hope, disappointments, deceit, trust, love and faith.  It follows the intersection of the lives of Tina Samuels and David Sims Jr.  Though their lives intersect as youth and they fall deeply in love, they had no idea what troubles were ahead for them.  Some loved ones threw strikes, foul balls and forfeitures at them and their plans.  Being young and inexperienced gave Tina David very few strategies to win the game of love and happiness.  Tina Samuels has become an intellectual, educated and very successful woman.  She feels like she has the world in the palm of her hand.  She made all of the right moves in life to get where she wanted to be without uttering one prayer or thank you to God or anyone else.  She had done it all on her on.  An unimaginable tragedy occurs, leaving Tina scared, bewildered, depressed and to no one whom she can turn.  Tina feels like a barbed wired fence is behind her and a brick wall is in front of her.  Now, her only assistance may come from her ex-finance, David Sims, whom she vowed never to speak to again in this life or the after-life.   Has maturity and distance eliminated anger, disillusionment and the desire for revenge?  Will extenuating circumstances increase the anger, disappointment and multiply the craving for revenge 10 times over?  Will hate and darkness prevail?

“There are three things that will endure---faith, hope, and love---and the greatest of these is love.”
