About the Author

Bob Ballantyne is a lifelong outdoorsman and retired teacher of biology and human physiology with 30 years in the high school science classroom and seven years as an adjunct faculty member at a community college. He also served for four years on active duty in the Marine Corps and 27 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, mostly as a helicopter pilot, from which he retired as a colonel. His education includes both undergraduate and graduate degrees in secondary education with majors in biology and minors in the physical and earth sciences. He has also been a life-long hunter and a long-time fly fisherman, and he has been an outdoor writer for 35 years, penning newspaper columns and magazine articles in several publications. He also presents a variety of slide shows on Yellowstone fishing and fisheries research. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife Nancy and their three dogs. One, a beagle named Suzie, is Bob’s hunting companion as well as a house-hold pet. The two standard poodles, Ruby and Parker, work in pet-assisted therapy programs at local medical and nursing facilities.
