The Crazy Visiting Elk & Other True Tales of School Administration, A Primer

by Dr. Richard Dodson

ABOUT THE BOOK: This book arose from Dr. Dodson's 31 years in Education, including work asprincipal and assistant principal in varied educational settings where he collected both rewarding and rocky memories. The Crazy Visiting Elk is chock full of hard-won practical advice for aspiring and new principals. The scenarios and exercises in this book detail the healthy organizational workings of some schools and the deep dysfunction of others.

Because they are actual experiences, the scenarios provide the perfect training tool for future principals. They reflect challenges presented by the various types of diverse learners in today's schools, address practical decisions that must be made on a day-to-day basis to resolve conflicts, and examine how instituting changes at a school can make or break a principal's career. Whether you're studying to become a principal - or you're a teacher trying to understand your administrator's bizarre behavior - this book will help you navigate the tricky terrain of education in America.
