Bill Hall was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1948. As a child, he always wrote short stories and even sent one to President Eisenhower and got a response from him at age 11. As he grew older, duty called during the Vietnam conflict and he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. After four years, he was discharged and became a firefighter in the Baltimore City Fire Department, serving for 30 years. After hearing so many people tell him he should write a book about his experiences, he decided he would. Turnout-A Firefighters Story was his first true venture into the field of published writing. It was a success! He has since written and published a book about his hometown: Sykesville, Maryland. He has completed his first published fiction. It is a Christian novel titled, “Remember Me in Paradise-The Story of the Thief.” Currently, he has finished writing a weekly newspaper series on veterans which appeared for thirteen months. This series became his fourth book, “They Gave Blood, Sweat and Tears-True Stories of American Veterans from WW II to Operation Iraqi Freedom.” He has several other projects completed and in the works that he hopes to get published soon. He is the father of five wonderful daughters: Amy, Emily, Holly, Bethany, and Ashley and has six grandchildren. He is married to Carol Beth Hughes Hall of Sykesville. After retiring from thirty years in the fire department, he spent a year as Director of Fire and Safety at Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville before going to work for Carroll County Government as an Emergency Management Planner and then Director in Homeland Security. He currently works for a national defense contractor. He also was elected three times as a Town Councilman in his hometown of Sykesville, Maryland. In his “spare” time he has written several stories, fiction and non-fiction, which are looking for a home at a publishing company.
